Vixen wrote a very insightful post today on body image. She summed things up very well – go read the post. It reminded me that I have been telling little one ever since our daughters were born that she is beautiful – despite the image that Hollywood and Madison Ave put out.
I have used Photoshop and know what can be done with it – I’ve retouched photos for various reasons. As much as I can tell someone what can be done by retouching pics, it’s more effective to *see* it done. Therefore, I’m putting this video here. Hopefully this will help someone to see how fake the image of “beauty” that’s put out by the industry really is.

Thanks for the linkback Mage it’s an issue I always jump up and down about especially because I have been through it myself. Ain’t photoshop a wonderful toy hehe.
You’re very welcome. It was a good post – well thought out. ^_^
Little one is losing weight now – not because she feels “fat” or that she isn’t “beautiful” but because she wants to be healthier. It’s taken *years* but I think she finally believes me when I tell her she’s beautiful – because *I* say so, and no one else’s opinion matters a rat’s ass.
Oh yeah – photoshop is a great toy.
Oh well said! Who gives a rats ass what anyone else thinks about one’s own body as long as one feels beautiful on the inside. I always tell people perfection is a myth.
“Perfection is a myth.” Very true. ^_^ (that, however, doesn’t stop me from being a perfectionist – or from kicking myself when I don’t get an A on a test – but that’s another story.) ^_^
heh. I’ll jump on the bandwagon and post…
[...] around through wordpress I came across a blog about body image. He referenced another blog about it, so naturally I scooted over there and read what she had to [...]
My pet and I are both trying to get into shape right now. We both quit smoking last week and started eating healthier. I already lost 6 lbs.
Photoshop…HA, oh that it were that easy!
I have fought the whole self-image battle my whole life. I used to be 300lbs. and am now 135, but no matter what size I am I still fight the image thing.
Thanks for the post, Sir.
